What your team will be able to do
- Set data up so Copilot works first time - the table structure rules that make or break every prompt.
- Create new calculations and lookups by prompt, and have Copilot explain any formula it writes.
- Personalise Copilot with your number formats, date formats and table styles, and set .Rules so it follows your standards every time.
- Build summary tables, column and trend charts, and interactive Pivot Tables with slicers - all by asking.
- Analyse free-text data: summarise, classify and extract from customer comments and survey responses.
- Clean up messy data, and leave with a plan for where Copilot fits their own work.
The day at a glance
Six sessions, each with hands-on exercises.
- Getting started. The Copilot pane, the three types of prompts, and privacy: how enterprise data protection keeps your data yours.
- Structuring data so Copilot delivers. Then your first prompts.
- Formulas by prompt. New calculations, lookups, and formulas explained.
- Make it yours. Personalisation, .Rules, and Python in Excel.
- Analysing data. Summary tables, charts, and Pivot Tables with slicers.
- Unstructured and messy data. Summarise, classify, extract and clean up - then plan where you will use it.
What your team needs in place
- Microsoft 365 with a Copilot licence for each delegate
- Excel, with workbooks saved to OneDrive or SharePoint - Copilot in Excel works on files stored there
- For live online days: a stable internet connection. A second screen helps but is not needed
- No previous Copilot experience
The day uses prepared training data, so everyone can follow the same steps. The examples show what becomes possible with your own data, and the team starts experimenting with their own files after the session.
Price
One price for the whole team. All prices exclude VAT.
Live online
Live, instructor-led, on Teams or Zoom. The same hands-on day, without the travel.
Face to face at your offices
Ian comes to you and runs the day in your training room.
- Up to two extra delegates at £95 each per day.
- Paired with a second course as a two-day programme: £1,795 live online, £2,495 face to face.
- Half days can be arranged and are priced when we quote.
The companion course: Excel Power Query
Copilot works best on data that is already in good shape. This day shows your team how to structure data for Copilot and tidy up a messy file, but it does not teach Power Query. If the same exports are reshaped by hand every month, the Excel Power Query day builds a repeatable clean-up that runs at the click of Refresh. Together the two make a two-day programme.
Questions buyers ask
Is the training live?
Yes. Every session is taught live by Ian Littlejohn, with questions answered as they come up. Nothing is pre-recorded.
Which platform do you use for live online training?
Microsoft Teams or Zoom, whichever your organisation prefers. A second screen helps but is not needed - delegates can switch between the session and Excel.
Is this a public course or a private one?
A private day for your team only. You choose the date, and the examples are pitched at the work your team does.
Do we work on our own files during the day?
The day uses prepared training data, so everyone can follow the same steps and see exactly what Copilot in Excel can do. The examples are chosen so the team can see what becomes possible with their own data. The idea is that they then start experimenting with their own files after the session. If they need help after that, Ian can support them on a consulting basis, or set up a call on Teams or Zoom to answer their questions, charged for the time.
Is our data safe when we use Copilot in Excel?
The first session covers this in plain English: how enterprise data protection in Microsoft 365 handles your prompts and your data, and what that means for the files your team works on.
How many people can attend?
Up to 8 for a live online day and up to 10 face to face. Up to two more delegates can join at £95 each per day.
Does it cover Power Query?
No. This day is about Copilot in Excel. If your team spends a lot of time reshaping the same exports every month, the Excel Power Query day is the companion course, and the two can run as a two-day programme.
Can you run a half day?
Yes, if a half day suits your team better. Half days are priced when we quote.
